In-form Gujarat Giants will lock horns with struggling Telugu Titans in their penultimate Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 9 match at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad on Tuesday, December 6.
Under head coach Ram Mehar Singh, the Giants will be high on confidence as they are currently on a three-match winning streak, having defeated U Mumba, Patna Pirates and Puneri Paltan in their last three games.
With 51 points from 20 matches, the two-time PKL finalists are currently placed ninth in the Pro Kabaddi Season 9 standings. The Giants still need to win their remaining two fixtures and hope other results go their way to advance to the knockouts of the ongoing PKL season.
Meanwhile, Jaipur Pink Panthers, Puneri Paltan, Bengaluru Bulls and U.P. Yoddhas have already qualified for the PKL 9 playoffs, which means, only two more spots are up for grabs in the knockouts.
The Giants will once again bank on their star all-rounder Parteek Dahiya, who has hogged the limelight in the ongoing season. Parteek has already amassed 149 raid points in 17 matches, including nine Super 10s to his name. Apart from the raiders, the Giants’ defensive unit has also stepped up to power the side to a hat-trick of wins.
On the other hand, Telugu Titans have had a disappointing campaign, registering just two victories in 20 matches this season.
The Titans are currently languishing at the bottom of the standings with just 15 points on the board. Interestingly, the Hyderabad-based franchise is the only side to be knocked out of the playoffs race so far.
Led by coach Venkatesh Goud, the Titans will depend on their talisman Siddharth Desai to end their four-match losing streak. Siddharth Desai has been the standout player for the Titans in PKL 9, having bagged 142 raid points in 17 matches.
Gujarat Giants vs Telugu Titans head-to-head
Gujarat Giants have a dominant head-to-head record against Telugu Titans in the Pro Kabaddi League, winning six of the seven matches that they have clashed so far. Telugu Titans registered their solitary victory over Gujarat Giants in 2019.
The last time these two sides faced each other, the Giants secured a convincing 30-19 win at the Shree Shivchhtrapati Sports Complex in Pune in October.
Going by recent form and past head-to-head record, the Giants will start as overwhelming favourites to beat struggling Telugu Titans on Tuesday.
