After dropping points in the opening two fixtures, Gujarat Giants defeated Puneri Paltan 47-37 on Friday. The Giants will take the mat again in no time as they will face the Jaipur Pink Panthers on Saturday, October 15, at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium, Bengaluru.

With Friday’s victory over Puneri Paltan, Gujarat Giants leaped up to the seventh position in the points table.

Star raider Rakesh Sungroya was at his imperious best, delivering 15 raid points for his side, which includes three bonus points. Besides him, Chandran Ranjit (four points) and Mahendra Ganesh Rajput (three points) made crucial contributions to the attack.

The Giants’ defensive unit delivered a stunning performance, picking up twice as many tackle points as their opponents, which proved to be decisive. Saurav Gulia, who picked up four points in the opening two games, chipped in with a High Five defensive display, collecting five tackle points.

Defenders Shankar Bhimraj Gadai and Arkam Shaikh were in top form as well, picking up three points each, taking the Giants’ tackle points tally to 12 on the day.

Meanwhile, the Panthers picked up two wins on the trot after losing their opening game.

Arjun Deshwal and skipper Sunil Kumar will pose a major threat for the Giants on Saturday. Arjun Deshwal already has 39 points in three games whilst Sunil Kumar has snared 13 tackle points so far.
