Our victory against U Mumba in our previous match was nothing short of incredible. It was a comeback win, with Mahendra Rajput’s stunning 7-point raid turning the tides of the match in our favour when our backs were against the wall. It was a spectacular clash of two immensely talented teams, and we were happy to have come away with the win and kept our winning streak alive.

Sachin Tanwar was his usual self and added another 9 points to his name. Defender Parvesh Bhainswal notched up yet another award for the defender of the game. Despite a couple of stand-out performances, it was largely an all-around team performance which helped us take a narrow two-point victory in the end, as Ajay Kumar escaped the grasp of a mistimed tackle by a cover defender to secure the win.

Six wins on the trot sounds like a smooth run, doesn’t it? It was anything but. Challenges were aplenty, but the Giants overcame them like a winning team does. The fact that this team has fought back to find victories, just like they did against U Mumba, speaks volumes about the character of the squad.

Now, we move to Ahmedabad for the much-awaited home leg! Our first opponents will be the Bengal Warriors, who played their last game on the same day as with a contrasting result, taking a loss against Patna Pirates. In our second Inter-zone match, we will look to register another win to set the tone for the rest of the home leg.

Can the Giants remain undefeated through the whole of the coming week to replicate the  performance from their debut season?

Battle within Battle: Sachin Tanwar Vs. Maninder Singh

Having gained immense experience playing since the inception of the ProKabaddi League, Maninder Singh is a highly decorated raider, and his powers aren’t fading in the slightest. He has already scored three Super 10s this season for the Bengal Warriors. When he gets going, he can score points at will. Stopping him will be priority number one for Sunil Kumar and Co.

On the other hand, our own Sachin Tanwar is every bit as good as him and has been our top raider so far. With every passing match, he has grown in confidence, ready to take everyone on. He has two Super 10s to his name in the season so far and that number is sure to become bigger.

Key Giants

Mahendra Rajput

In a way, Mahendra Rajput was the difference between the two teams in the last game, as his 7-point Super Raid completely changed the look of the game. He will be riding on the confidence from the previous encounter and will look to replicate the performance, using his reach and agility to the best of his abilities. It will also be interesting to see if Manpreet Singh opts to start with him.

Parvesh Bhainswal

Sunil Kumar and Parvesh Bhainswal are considered to be one the best cover duos of VIVO PKL 6. Parvesh has shown a consistent improvement in his performance this season, complementing our captain well. With the likes of Maninder Singh and Jang Kun Lee in the Warriors, Parvesh Bhainswal will be a crucial player for us.
