After a dominant victory over U.P. Yoddhas, Gujarat Giants will look to continue their winning run when they square off against Haryana Steelers in their sixth Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 9 match at the Shree Kanteerava Indoor Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday, October 22.
Led by their talismanic captain Chandran Ranjit, the Giants defeated the Yoddhas 51-45 on Wednesday to secure a morale-boosting win.
Two-time finalists Gujarat Giants rode on an impressive performance from Ranjit, who bagged 20 points including registering 12 successful tackles and eight bonus points. The Giants captain was ably supported by star raider Rakesh, who contributed 16 points including scoring 14 touch points and also secured two bonus points.
Having registered two wins, two losses and one tie, the Ram Mehar Singh-coached Giants are currently placed sixth in the PKL 9 standings with 14 points from five matches.
On the other hand, the Haryana Steelers will look to bounce back after losing their last two matches against reigning champions Dabang Delhi K.C. and Jaipur Pink Panthers in PKL 9.
Under the leadership of veteran defender Joginder Narwal, the Steelers earlier started their PKL 9 campaign with a win over Bengal Warriors before beating Tamil Thalaivas in their second match of the ongoing season.
With two wins and as many losses, the Manpreet Singh-coached side is currently placed eighth in the standings with 11 points from four matches.
