The Pro Kabaddi League season 11 is just around the corner, and the Gujarat Giants have been working hard for the last 15 days, gearing up for a strong season. After reaching the playoffs in Season 10 under the guidance of coach Ram Mehar Singh, the team is aiming to go further and win the title this year. With the season fast approaching, we sat down with Ram Mehar Singh to hear his thoughts.

When asked about how the captain of the team is chosen, Ram Mehar explained that experience and leadership are key qualities. "The captain should be senior and experienced. He needs to unite the team and guide them to play as one. During the game, he should be able to control the situation and motivate the players," Ram Mehar said. This, he added, is one of the key factors in selecting the captain.

On the topic of mental health and keeping the players calm, Ram Mehar shared his approach. "I always remind the players that they are the best and no one can beat them when they are in top form. I tell them that we will win, but if we lose, it’s okay—we’ll win the next one. I make sure they don’t get too excited after a win or too upset after a loss because that’s how sports are. It’s a long season, so ups and downs are normal. The key is to stay focused and bounce back in the next game."

Ram Mehar also shared how he keeps his composure during matches. "There are always a lot of thoughts going through my mind during a game. Even if we lose, I tell myself that these things happen. The important thing is to learn from the mistakes made and ensure they don’t happen again. I always try to motivate the players after a loss and get them ready for the next match."

When it comes to handling the stress of his players, Ram Mehar emphasizes the importance of focusing on the future. "During a match, the situation is always intense, but I tell the players that even if we lose, we should forget about it and focus on the next game. Mistakes happen, but we have to move on. Self-motivation is key, and I sometimes talk about things other than the game to help ease the pressure."

Ram Mehar also spoke about the team dynamic, stressing that every player is equally important. "There’s no big or small player in our team. Everyone, from the players to the staff, must respect each other and stay disciplined. We all have one goal: to win the trophy. That should always be the focus—trophy, trophy, trophy."

To wrap things up, Ram Mehar talked about the team's training camp. "We’ have been in camp for 15 to 20 days now, and our main focus has been on fitness. If the players are tired or have had a tough workout, we lighten things up in the evening with recreational games and music to help them relax and reduce stress."

With this strong preparation and focus, the Gujarat Giants are ready to give it their all in the upcoming season of the Pro Kabaddi League.
