Gujarat Giants take the mat against Puneri Paltan in their third match of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 9 at the Shree Kanteerava Indoor Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday, October 14, 2022.

Gujarat Giants played an enthralling season opener against Tamil Thalaivas, with the game ending all square at 31-31. However, the defence failed to stand firm in the next match against Naveen Kumar and Co. as the Giants stumbled to a 53-33 defeat to Dabang Delhi.

Rakesh Sungroya was the pick of the lot among raiders in the last game, following a Super 10 against the Thalaivas with another Super 10 against Delhi. He scored 14 raid points - eight touch points and six bonus points - and also won a tackle point.

Defensively, Parteek Dahiya and Sourav Gulia won two tackle points each against Delhi. Gujarat Giants completed just six tackles in the last game and will be challenged by Puneri Paltan raiders, Vikash Kandola and Bharat, who will be raring to build on their Super 10s from the last game.

Puneri Paltan lost by the smallest of margins against the Bengaluru Bulls on Sunday. However, the Paltan won nine tackle points and 24 raid points in the last game which was a strong all-round performance. The Pune squad is one of the teams yet to win a game in Pro Kabaddi League Season 9.

Gujarat Giants vs Puneri Paltan head-to-head

Gujarat Giants have been the dominant team against Puneri Paltan, leading the head-to-head battle with six wins from 10 games in the Pro Kabaddi League. One game between the sides was tied while the Paltan have registered three victories.

Although, in recent times, Puneri Paltan have had the upper hand over Gujarat Giants in PKL. The Paltan have won three of the last four games, along with a tie, across Season 7 and Season 8.

Gujarat Giants’ last success against Puneri Paltan came in 2018 when a 35-20 victory for the Giants sealed three wins in a row in Season 7 against the Paltan.

The Giants can leapfrog the Paltan in the Pro Kabaddi League Season 9 points table with a win on Friday.
