In-form Gujarat Giants will aim to continue their winning streak as they square off against U Mumba in a crucial Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 9 fixture at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad on Sunday, December 4.
The Giants will be brimming with confidence after defeating Patna Pirates and Puneri Paltan in their last two matches.
Under the tutelage of head coach Ram Mehar Singh, the Giants rode on star raider Mahendra Ganesh Rajput’s magnificent performance to outclass the Pirates as they registered back-to-back victories to stay in contention for the PKL Season 9 playoffs.
Apart from a stellar show from the raiders, the Giants’ defensive unit rose up to the occasion when it mattered the most in the previous two matches to guide the side to consecutive wins. The likes of Sourav Gulia, Rinku Narwal and Shankar Gadai have picked up important points to power the Giants to comprehensive victories this week.
Having accumulated 46 points from 19 games, the two-time PKL finalists are currently placed 11th in the PKL Season 9 standings. The Giants still need to win all their remaining three matches and also hope other results go their way in order to finish in the top six and advance to the knockout stage.
The Giants will once again depend on raiders Parteek Dahiya and Mahendra Rajput as well as hope their defence can continue their impressive run against U Mumba to help the side bag five more crucial points to their tally.
On the other hand, U Mumba have recently struggled in the ongoing season, having secured just a solitary victory in their last five games.
The PKL Season 2 champions are currently placed ninth in the standings with 50 points from 19 matches and will aim to bounce against the Giants to keep their playoff hopes alive.
For U Mumba, star raider Guman Singh will be the player to watch out for, having amassed 130 raid points in 16 games so far.
