Day 1 of the Pro Kabaddi League Season 11 auction was thrilling, full of excitement and intense bidding wars as players went under the hammer. The auction witnessed a total of eight players crossing the ₹1 crore mark, reflecting the high demand for top talent. Some players found themselves returning to familiar teams, while others secured new homes for the upcoming season.
The biggest headline of the day was Sachin Tanwar, who emerged as the most expensive player on Day 1, fetching a whopping ₹2.15 crore from Tamil Thalaivas. His value soared as multiple teams engaged in a bidding war, ultimately making him the costliest acquisition of the day. Sachin's exceptional performance in previous seasons made him a prized asset, and Tamil Thalaivas were willing to break the bank to secure his services.
As for our team, Day 1 was relatively quiet, but it was a productive day nonetheless. We successfully acquired two players, and we are quite happy with our purchases so far. Both of these players have proven their worth in the Pro Kabaddi League, and we believe they will be valuable additions to our squad as we head into the new season.
Our first acquisition was Guman Singh, whom we secured for ₹1.97 crore. Guman is no stranger to the PKL stage, having been the most lethal raider for U Mumba in the last two seasons. He has been a standout performer. In Season 10, Guman played 18 matches and earned a total of 168 points, including 163 raid points. His impressive tally featured 9 Super 10s and 4 Super Raids, demonstrating his ability to consistently score for his team.
In Season 9, he earned 137 points with 7 Super 10s and 5 Super Raids. Throughout his PKL career, Guman has played 58 matches, amassing 400 raid points. His record includes 20 Super 10s and 12 Super Raids, making him one of the most reliable raiders in the league. With these incredible numbers, we are confident that Guman will bring his top form to our team and help us in our quest for glory in Season 11.
Our second purchase of the day was a familiar face - our wall Sombir Gulia. We were thrilled to bring him back to our team, as he was one of our key defenders in Season 10. Sombir's return was well-deserved, and we were determined to secure him once again. In Season 10, Sombir was particularly effective during the Ahmedabad leg of the tournament, where he earned 13 tackle points, including 2 High 5s. Throughout the season, he played 22 matches and secured 52 tackle points, with 8 Super Tackles and 4 High 5s to his name. His defensive skills made him one of the best defenders in the league, and we are excited to have him back in our ranks.
Sombir's overall PKL career statistics are equally impressive, having played 94 matches and earned 194 tackle points. His tally includes 24 Super Tackles and 13 High 5s, underscoring his ability to make game-changing plays. Sombir's return strengthens our defense, and we are eager to see him continue his stellar performances in the upcoming season.
As Day 1 came to a close, our squad now consists of seven players, including five who were retained before the auction. With ₹1.911 crore remaining in our purse, we are in a strong position to make further acquisitions on Day 2. The auction is far from over, and we still have several spots to fill in our squad. We are confident that Day 2 will bring more excitement and opportunities for us to strengthen our team even further.
Overall, Day 1 of the Pro Kabaddi League Season 11 auction was a good one for us. We managed to secure two proven performers who have consistently delivered on the PKL stage. We are building a balanced and competitive squad with Guman Singh bolstering our raiding department and Sombir Gulia returning to anchor our defense. As we head into Day 2, we remain focused on our strategy and look forward to adding more quality players to our team.
