The Gujarat Giants have faced a challenging start to Season 11 of the Pro Kabaddi League, with three consecutive losses after an opening win against the Bengaluru Bulls. This was not the beginning we anticipated, but with many games left in the season, there’s ample time to regroup and make a strong comeback.
Our latest match, against the Tamil Thalaivas, proved to be particularly tough, ending in a 44-25 defeat. This loss was a difficult one, especially since we had beaten the Thalaivas twice in Season 10. However, they came prepared this time, taking control early on and securing a convincing victory. Guman Singh gave his best with a solid 7-point effort, but it wasn’t enough to counter Narender Kandola’s outstanding performance for the Thalaivas, where he racked up 15 points. This marked our third straight defeat, and now our focus is on bouncing back in our next game against Puneri Paltan.
Puneri Paltan has started the season in strong form, with three wins, one loss, and one tie so far. They began with a solid victory over the Haryana Steelers, followed by an impressive win against Patna Pirates. After a setback in their only loss against the Tamil Thalaivas, they rebounded with a win over Bengaluru Bulls and then tied their latest game against the Bengal Warriors. Their consistent performance highlights their strength this season, and they will certainly be a formidable opponent.
In terms of our head-to-head record, we lead with 8 wins out of 14 matches played against Puneri Paltan, while they have won 5, and one game ended in a tie. Last season, though, the Paltan held the upper hand, winning both encounters: a 34-24 victory in the first match and a 37-17 win in the second. Back in Season 9, however, we managed to beat them on both occasions, showing that we can match their strength when it counts.
This upcoming match promises to be an exciting one, and we are determined to put up a strong fight and work towards reclaiming our winning momentum. It’s a long season, and we are ready to give our all for a comeback!
