The Gujarat Giants faced a tough outing against Puneri Paltan, ending with a heavy defeat at 49-30. This result marks a challenging start to Season 11 of the Pro Kabaddi League, as the Giants continue to search for momentum in the first five games. While the scoreline was disappointing, we believe this team has much more to show and that a comeback is just around the corner.
Despite the outcome, Guman Singh was a bright spot on a tough night, earning a Super 10 with a strong, determined performance. His raiding skills and resilience were impressive, and we hope to see him continue this form in the coming games, where we aim to regroup and push forward.
From the start, Puneri Paltan took control of the game. The first raid saw Guman Singh tackled by Puneri’s defense, giving them early confidence. Puneri quickly moved ahead to a 4-0 lead, and by the time we secured our first point—a bonus—Puneri’s Pankaj had already widened the gap. Puneri inflicted an All Out soon after, pushing the score even further in their favor. Guman managed to get a raid point, but Puneri’s Akash and Ankit kept responding with points of their own. Pankaj Mohite added to their lead with a Super Raid, earning another All Out to make it 22-7. By halftime, Puneri Paltan had surged ahead with a 30-9 lead, making our job much harder.
In the second half, Puneri Paltan kept up the pressure and immediately scored another All Out, extending their lead even further. Guman Singh did everything he could to keep us in the contest, securing valuable points in crucial raids. But as the game progressed, Puneri’s defense remained strong and didn’t give us much space to close the gap. Two consecutive Super Tackles from Puneri pushed the score to 40-15, leaving us in a difficult position. Even though we fought back and managed to earn an All Out of our own toward the end, the gap was too wide to overcome. Guman Singh’s efforts earned him a well-deserved Super 10, a testament to his skill and persistence in a tough game.
Though this game didn’t go our way, we are proud of the grit shown by the team and remain confident that they’ll bounce back. With the next game against the Haryana Steelers on Thursday, our Giants are focused and ready to turn things around. Let’s rally behind them as they look to get back to winning ways.
