After two weeks of magnificent Kabaddi in Hyderabad and Mumbai, the PKL Season 7 action has shifted to Patna. All eyes will be on the Giants who square off against Puneri Paltan at Patliputra Sports Complex, tonight.
Barring a forgettable outing against U Mumba on Friday, the Giants were at their imposing best in the first three matches, and our coach Manpreet expects a reaction from his team with a win against the Paltans.
There is no denying the fact that our raid machine, Sachin Tanwar, struggled against U Mumba’s powerful defensive duo of Fazel Atrachali and Surinder Singh. However, we are confident that Sachin will come back stronger when he faces the challenge of Surjeet & Co.
Sachin’s partner in crime, Rohit Gulia, too had a rare off day against U Mumba. With 22 raid points in 4 matches, Rohit has been our best raider in Season 7, and will look to regain his lost touch against the Paltans.
Manpreet stuck to the same starting 7 in the first four matches, but he might bring in some changes by giving a chance to Harmanjit Singh, who was outstanding in his debut PKL match against U Mumba.
Despite having a tough outing against Abhishek Singh, all eyes will once again be on Sunil Kumar and Parvesh Bhainswal. The duo should be at their stellar best against an inexperienced Puneri Paltan raiding unit.
More G B has looked equally efficient in attack and defence so far, while the corner defenders Ankit and Sumit will look to provide more support in order to make our defence a formidable unit once again.
Key Giant
Although we are yet to see the best of Sunil since his fantastic High 5 on opening night, our Captain will be the key giant in today’s match. Sunil’s record against Puneri Paltan raiders speaks for itself. In previous encounters he has notched up 22 tackle points from 6 outings, including two High 5’s.
Head to Head
We have a 100% winning record against Puneri Paltan in PKL. Apart from the nail-biting encounter at Pune in Season 5, we have defeated the Paltans comprehensively in the remaining 5 matches. Considering their inexperienced line-up and bad start to the season, we should pull off another win against the Paltans, extending our winning streak to 7.
Probable Line up
Even though we struggled in our last match, the coach has shown great faith in the starting seven, and could line up the same way for the fifth match running.
Sachin Tanwar, Parvesh Bhainswal, Sumit, Rohit Gulia, Sunil Kumar(C), Ankit, More GB.
