Super Sunday just can’t get any better as Gujarat Fortune Giants take on U Mumba at the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium in Jaipur. The Giants will draw a lot of confidence if they reflect on Saturday’s performance against the Panthers but they will also consider themselves unlucky about the outcome of the match.
After trailing by 5-points in the first half, the Giants’ defence fired on all cylinders to halt the Panthers’ dominance, but the home team pulled off five Super Tackles to evade themselves from an All-Out in the final quarter.
Sunil Kumar has been a lone ranger in defence in the first-half of the tournament. However, it’s good to see Parvesh shouldering the burden and coming up with stunning tackles in recent outings.
Parvesh Bhainswal bailed us out with an advanced tackle on Nitin Rawal in the buzzer raid yesterday, and there is no doubt that the High 5 performance against the Panthers will definitely boost his confidence, heading into the U Mumba match.
Even though Ruturaj and Pankaj are yet to prove their prowess, the duo will keep their place in the Starting 7 against U Mumba.
U Mumba don’t possess a big attacking threat, so if our defence maintains a fine shape, we can put the pressure on them from the word go.
Our new captain, Rohit Gulia, had a forgettable outing after being Super-Tackled multiple times yesterday. But, he will look to put those disappointments behind him and lead the challenge against Fazel Atrachali & Co.
U Mumba’s defence kept our raiders at bay in the last encounter in Mumbai, so it will be interesting to see the tactics of Sachin Tanwar and Rohit Gulia.
After a promising performance against the Panthers, More GB should keep his place in the Starting 7.
Key Giant
Injuries hampered Sachin’s progress at the start of the season, but his performance in the last few matches shows why he’s been deemed as one of the best raiders in the tournament.
With 53 raids points in 8 matches including two Super 10s, Sachin Tanwar has always been a nightmare for U Mumba in the past. Fazel Atrachali and Sandeep Narwal came out on top against Sachin in the previous encounter, but we hope that he will tackle every obstacle thrown at him today.
Head-To-Head
We have a dominant Head-to-Head record against U Mumba, beating them five times in seven matches. With both teams possessing a strong defence, we are in for an exciting clash on Sunday.
U Mumba are currently one of the best in-form teams in VIVO Pro Kabaddi League, and a victory against them will surely uplift the spirit in the dressing room.
Probable line-up
Rohit Gulia (C),Sunil Kumar, Sachin Tanwar, Ruturaj Koravi, Pankaj, More GB, Parvesh Bhainswal.
