As we navigate through the challenges of the second season of the Women’s Premier League, our recent setback against the Delhi Capitals in Bangalore has added to our trials. However, as we prepare to transition to Delhi for the next leg, we remain hopeful and determined to stage a comeback and secure a Playoff spot.
Opting to field first after winning the toss, we faced a strong start from the Delhi Capitals, with Shafali Verma scoring briskly. Nevertheless, Meghna Singh's early breakthrough dismissed her. Alice Capsey seemed poised for a substantial innings, but Meghna Singh struck again, removing her from the crease. Despite their strong start, courtesy of Meg Lanning’s fifty, we managed to stage a comeback in the latter overs, restricting Delhi Capitals to 163 runs. Meghna Singh's exceptional performance stood out, claiming four vital wickets.
In our batting innings, the start wasn't ideal as Laura Wolvaardt fell for a duck. Although Beth Mooney and Phoebe Litchfield showed promise, they were both dismissed in quick succession by Jess Jonassen. Ashleigh Gardner gave it her all with a fine knock of 40, but we fell short in the end. Jess Jonassen and Radha Yadav excelled with the ball for the Delhi Capitals.
With the Bangalore leg concluding with a defeat, our focus now shifts to the next phase in Delhi. Our upcoming match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore poses another challenge, yet we are determined to give our best effort. While the path to the playoffs may seem daunting, our team remains committed to the task at hand, aiming to turn our fortunes around.
