Gujarat Giants (GG) will be looking to turn things around against Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 Eliminator at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday, March 13. The WPL 2025 Eliminator will start at 7:30 PM IST.
Under the leadership of Ashleigh Gardner, we secured our first-ever playoffs spot after finishing third in the WPL 2025 standings with eight points from eight games.
Meanwhile, our Giants will be aiming to bounce back in the WPL 2025 Eliminator after Mumbai Indians ended our three-match winning streak in our final league match on Monday.
Chasing 180, our swashbuckling batter Bharti Fulmali smashed 61 runs off just 25 balls to almost help us pull off a brilliant chase. Fulmali’s maiden WPL fifty later went in vain as we suffered a narrow nine-run defeat at the Brabourne Stadium.
Earlier, Priya Mishra, skipper Ashleigh Gardner, Kashvee Gautam and Tanuja Kanwar picked up one wicket each to help us restrict MI to 179/6 in their 20 overs.
Having already recorded our best-ever finish in the league’s history, our Giants will look to secure our spot in the WPL 2025 final with a victory over hosts Mumbai Indians on Thursday.
All eyes will once again be on our captain Gardner, who has led from the front with her all-round performances in the ongoing tournament. Our Australian all-rounder has amassed 235 runs and claimed eight wickets in WPL 2025.
Apart from Gardner, our wicketkeeper-batter Beth Mooney (231 runs), Harleen Deol (224 runs), Deandra Dottin (142 runs) and Bharti Fulmali (103 runs) have made significant contributions with the bat.
In the bowling department, our young pacer Kashvee Gautam has been the leading wicket-taker for us with 10 scalps.
All-rounder Dottin has bagged nine wickets while left-arm spinner Tanuja Kanwer has claimed eight wickets.
On the other hand, Mumbai Indians booked their place in the WPL 2025 playoffs after they finished second in the standings.
Led by captain Harmanpreet Kaur, the inaugural WPL champions have registered five wins and three losses in the ongoing tournament so far.
The winner of the Eliminator will face Delhi Capitals in the final on Saturday as they secured direct entry, owing to their top finish in the WPL 2025 standings.
