
Gujarat Giants (GG) will be aiming to bounce back against defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in their fifth match of the ongoing Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Thursday, February 27.
Under the leadership of Ashleigh Gardner, the Giants will head into their upcoming WPL 2025 fixture after suffering a tough defeat against Delhi Capitals at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium on Tuesday.
Put in to bat, the Giants rode on Bharti Fulmali’s unbeaten 40, along with contributions from Deandra Dottin (26) and Tanuja Kanwar (16) to post 127/9 in their 20 overs. Later, young pacer Kashvee Gautam produced another impressive spell (2/26), however, it wasn’t enough as the Capitals chased down the target in 15.1 overs to register a six-wicket win.
With one win and three losses, the Ashleigh Gardner-led Giants are currently placed fifth in the WPL 2025 standings.
Meanwhile, captain Gardner has been the leading run-scorer for the Giants in the ongoing tournament, having amassed 144 runs in four matches at an average of 48 and a strike rate of 163.63.
In the bowling department, Kashvee Gautam, Priya Mishra and Gardner have picked up five wickets each in the WPL 2025.
On the other hand, Royal Challengers Bengaluru lost to UP Warriorz in a thrilling Super Over in their previous game at home on Monday.
Led by Smriti Mandhana, RCB are currently placed second in the WPL 2025 standings with two wins and two losses.
