Gujarat Giants (GG) will be aiming to continue their winning momentum when they face UP Warriorz (UPW) in their upcoming Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 match at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Monday, March 3.

Under the leadership of Ashleigh Gardner, the Giants will head into the game high on confidence after defeating defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by six wickets in their previous game at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Thursday.

Electing to bowl first, the Giants rode on an all-round bowling performance to restrict RCB to 125/7 in their 20 overs.

Left-arm spinner Tanuja Kanwer and star all-rounder Deandra Dottin bagged two wickets apiece while Kashvee Gautam and Gardner chipped in with one scalp each.

Later, captain Gardner led from the front with a brilliant half-century (58) while talented southpaw Phoebe Litchfield remained unbeaten on 30 to help the Giants chase down the target in 16.3 overs.

With the morale-boosting victory, the Giants have four points from five matches and also improved their net run-rate.

Meanwhile, skipper Gardner has been the leading run-scorer for the Giants in the ongoing tournament, having accumulated 202 runs in five matches at an average of 50.50 and an impressive strike rate of 169.74.

In the bowling department, Kashvee Gautam and Gardner have been the standout performers with six wickets each in the WPL 2025.

On the other hand, UP Warriorz succumbed to an eight-wicket defeat against Mumbai Indians (MI) in their last game on Wednesday.

Led by captain Deepti Sharma, the Warriorz are currently placed third in the WPL 2025 standings with two wins and three losses.

Gujarat Giants and UP Warriorz have faced each other on five occasions in the Women’s Premier League. The Giants have registered two victories while the Warriorz have three wins.

The last time these two sides met, the Ashleigh Gardner-led Giants secured a comprehensive six-wicket win over the Warriorz at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara in February.
